A condition you had, or had symptoms or treatment for, before your policy started.
Anything you have already had advice, medication, treatment or symptoms for before cover begins is pre-existing. How it is handled depends on the underwriting method: moratorium underwriting sets it aside for a fixed period and may bring it back into cover if you stay clear of it, while full medical underwriting decides up front and may exclude it permanently. Switching insurer can reset how a pre-existing condition is treated unless continued personal medical exclusions are agreed.
