About this tool
This tool explains the wording in insurance documents that most often catches people out, in ordinary English. It works with health insurance policies, renewal letters and claim decisions.
You paste in any part of the text: a section of the policy wording, a paragraph from a renewal letter, or the reason given for turning down a claim. The tool finds the terms that decide what you are actually covered for, such as exclusions, chronic conditions, pre-existing conditions, moratorium periods, outpatient limits, hospital lists and shortfalls. It then explains each one and the question worth asking about it. It does not decide whether a claim should be paid and it is not advice. The text stays in your browser: it is never sent to us and never stored.
Where your text goes
Nowhere. The checking happens inside this page on your own device. The text is not uploaded, not logged, not stored and not seen by anyone here. Close the tab and it is gone.
What this does not tell you
- This finds and explains clauses we recognise. A term we do not recognise can still matter, so it is not a substitute for reading the document.
- It cannot tell you whether a particular claim will be paid. Only your insurer can, and if you disagree with them there is a complaints route.
- We explain wording. We provide information. We do not give personal advice, and we do not arrange insurance on this site. Quotes and policies are handled by PremierPMI, an FCA-authorised broker.
- Explanations are general. Your own policy wording always takes precedence over anything here.
- Your text is checked in your browser and never sent to us.
If an insurer has turned down a claim and you think they are wrong, our complaints page explains the free route to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
