The Health Guide is published by PremierPMI, an FCA-authorised health insurance broker. It explains what private treatment costs, how long NHS waits are, and how health, life and critical illness cover actually work. We do not give medical advice, and we do not diagnose. For clinical information, we link to the NHS and to condition-specific charities.
What we cover
- What private treatment, scans and procedures cost in the UK, and who publishes those figures
- How NHS waiting times work and what your options are while you wait
- How private health insurance, life insurance and critical illness cover work in practice
- What a condition means for your cover — underwriting, exclusions, claims and access
What we do not cover
We publish nothing diagnostic. No symptom checkers, no triage tools, no treatment recommendations, no medicine or dosage information. If you need clinical information, the NHS website and the relevant medical charity are the right places, and we link to them from our guides.
Who writes for the site
Every guide carries the name of the person who wrote it and the name of a second person who reviewed it. Our reviewers are experienced insurance advisers. They are not clinicians, and nothing on this site should be read as medical advice.
Our contributors are named, photographed and listed in full, with the guides each of them wrote or reviewed. We show a formal qualification only once it has been supplied by the person and verified; where none is shown, none has been verified. Meet our authors.
How articles are reviewed
Nobody reviews their own work. Every guide shows when it was published, when it was last reviewed and when it is next due for review, and every figure is traceable to a numbered source. Our full process is set out in the editorial policy.
How we pay for this
The Health Guide is published by PremierPMI, an FCA-regulated insurance broker. We think you should know that before you read anything else, so we explain it in full on how we are funded.
