What is the NHS 18-week waiting time standard? — In England the NHS Constitution gives you the right to start consultant-led treatment within 18 weeks of referral, unless you choose to wait longer or waiting is clinically appropriate. If that standard is not met, your hospital or commissioner must take all reasonable steps to offer you a suitable alternative provider.
