The Health Guide — clear answers, healthier tomorrows

    Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information The Health Guide collects when you read our guides, sign up to our email list or contact us, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it.

    Who we are

The Health Guide is published by PremierPMI, a trading style of Tesha Family Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 1029667). Registered in England and Wales, company number 11417747. Registered office: 36 Glenwood Road, Mill Hill, London NW7 4LJ.

For the personal information described on this page, Tesha Family Ltd is the data controller. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@thehealthguide.co.uk or by post at the registered office above.

    What we collect and why

    Email sign-ups

If you ask to receive our updates, we store your email address together with the exact consent wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the page you signed up from. We keep that record so we can show that consent was freely given. We do not ask for your name and we do not profile you. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.

    Messages you send us

If you submit a correction, a question or any other message, we hold what you send — typically your email address and the content of your message — so we can respond and, where a correction is needed, keep an editorial record of it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering readers and maintaining an accurate, correctable publication.

    Advice enquiries

If you use the form on our talk to an adviser page, we store your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the topic and message you send, and the page you came from. We hold this so we can pass your enquiry to PremierPMI, the broker that publishes this site, so they can contact you about it. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form; it covers passing your details to PremierPMI (Tesha Family Ltd, FRN 1029667) so they can respond. We keep enquiries for up to 24 months after they are closed, then delete them. Please do not send medical details through the form — it is not a clinical service.

Measuring how the site is used

With your consent, we record which pages are viewed, how long they are read, how far down the page people scroll, which links are followed, and technical details such as broad device type and the site you arrived from. This is our own first-party measurement: it is not shared with advertising networks and it is not used to build a marketing profile of you. It does not start until you accept on the cookie notice, and you can change your mind at any time on the cookies page.

    Technical and security logs

Our hosting and database provider keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, as part of running and protecting the service. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.

    Guides you save

Saved guides are stored in your own browser on your own device. They are never sent to us and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

    What we do not do

    • We do not sell or rent personal information.
    • We do not run advertising or allow advertising networks to track you here.
    • We do not ask for, or want, health information about you through this site.
    • We do not pass reader details to insurers. Reading a guide never generates a sales enquiry.
    • No email is currently sent from this site; addresses collected are stored only.

    Who we share information with

We use a hosting, database and email infrastructure provider to run the site. They process information on our written instructions and may not use it for their own purposes. Information is processed in the UK and the European Economic Area wherever possible; where a provider processes information elsewhere, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires. We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.

PremierPMI funds this publication and is part of the same company. If you choose to follow a labelled link to PremierPMI and then contact them, that enquiry is handled under PremierPMI's own privacy policy, as a separate commercial service. If you use our enquiry form, we pass your details to PremierPMI with your consent, so they can contact you about what you asked; the retention period for that is set out above.

    How long we keep it

    • Email sign-up records: for as long as you are subscribed, and for 24 months after you unsubscribe so we can evidence the consent that applied.
    • Messages and corrections: up to 24 months, except where a correction forms part of the published editorial record, which we keep for as long as the guide is published.
    • Measurement records: up to 26 months, then deleted or aggregated.
    • Technical and security logs: short-term only, typically days rather than months.

    Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be told what we hold about you and to receive a copy; to have inaccurate information corrected; to ask for information to be deleted; to restrict or object to how we use it; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was done before you withdrew it. You will never be treated less favourably for exercising any of these rights.

To use any of them, email info@thehealthguide.co.uk. We respond within one month. If a request is complex we may extend that by up to two further months and will tell you why.

Complaining about how we handle your information

Please tell us first so we can put it right — see our complaints page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

    Children

This site is written for adults making decisions about healthcare cover. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and our email list is not intended for under-18s.
