Partial payment (additional-condition payment)

A smaller pay-out for a less severe condition that does not end the main cover.

Many critical illness policies list additional, less severe conditions that pay a percentage of the sum assured — or a fixed capped amount — rather than the full lump sum. These partial payments usually do not end the policy: the main cover continues for the remaining sum assured. Which conditions qualify, the percentage paid and any cap vary between insurers, so the additional-conditions list is one of the most useful sections of the wording to compare before buying.
