Children’s critical illness cover
Automatic cover for the policyholder’s children, usually included on adult policies at a capped amount.
Most adult critical illness policies automatically include cover for the policyholder’s children within set age limits, paying a capped amount — commonly a fixed sum or a percentage of the adult sum assured, whichever is lower — if a child is diagnosed with a defined condition. Children are not usually medically underwritten for this element, but conditions present at birth or before the policy starts are typically excluded. The cap, the age limits and the exclusions all appear in the policy wording.
